Updates and changes at Akagera Game Lodge

With the new management in place at Akagera game lodge, the lodge is undergoing many changes and also improvements. Renovations of 24 rooms is ongoing and the rooms will be  complete by the end of January 2019. Come December 2018,  akagera game lodge will have a a computerised reservations to allow online bookings via, their website: www.akageralodge.com and more changes will be made over the next 6 months.

In March 2019, Akagera Game Lodge plans to commence the refurbishment of more 36 rooms and hope to have them complete by June 2019. Plans are ongoing for upgrades to the Bar, Restaurant, Foyer and Pool area.

Room reservation at Akagera game lodge.

Akagera Game Lodge is making changes to their reservation procedures. All bookings received will be regarded as tentative. Only once full prepayment is received will the booking be guaranteed. All tentative bookings will be automatically canceled within 48 hours before

arrival. Starting 1st November 2018, AGL will not accept cash as payment for accommodation. Extras may be settled with cash; if not prepaid accommodation amounts can be settled with bank/credit cards.

Kindly note the following with regards Driver/Guides:

With immediate effect Akagera Game Lodge will apply the following:

During the peak occupancy days, AGL will prioritize our guests who are paying full rates and Drivers/Guides will only be allowed to check in at 19H00, if rooms are available.

Please be advised of the following

  1. i) Rooms booked in advance will be at full rates and the normal prepayment rules will apply for driver/guides.
  2. ii) From 1st September 2018, the Driver/Guide rate will be Rwf 25 800, per room, (single or double) inclusive of breakfast. This rate will only be available for Drivers/Guides who are with a party staying at AGL.

iii) For the rate of the Drivers/Guides who are not with a party staying in the hotel will be Rwf 65 000, per room (single or double), inclusive of breakfast. Kindly note that this rate will not be available from 15th January 2019

akagera new rooms The “New” Rooms:

All the “new” rooms will have: Climate Control under Counter, Electronic safe Hairdryers, Convenience Fridge, Complimentary Wi-Fi, Tea/coffee station. Most rooms will have showers, approx. 15 rooms will have showers over bath. All rooms will be available in double or twin.

Kindly note that full payment is required within 72 hours to guarantee your booking (As per booking conditions below). When making a transfer or deposit, please ensure that the surname of the reservation is used as the reference.

BOOKING CONDITIONS

The full amount is required within 72 hours from booking in order to guarantee your reservation. Should you not guarantee your reservation, our bookings system will automatically release the room without notification.

Rates are subject to change without prior notice.

Local Purchase Orders are not accepted.

CANCELLATION / REFUND POLICY

In the event of notification of cancellation, the following cancellation fee shall apply on the full booking:

25% of the total invoice value will be charged if cancelled less than 30 days prior to arrival

50% of the total invoice value will be charged if cancelled less than 15 days prior to arrival

75% of the total invoice value will be charged if cancelled less than 07 days prior to arrival

All bank charges are for the account of the person depositing funds and will not be paid by Akagera Game Lodge

CHILD POLICY:

Children under 16, who stay in their own room – 50% discount on the applicable rate (Includes Breakfast)

Family room –The children’s room – 25% discount on the applicable rate (Includes Breakfast)

Departing guests are asked to vacate rooms by 11H00 AM on day of departure. This is strictly enforced.

Should you require a late checkout, please contact the Hotel directly (50% will be charged)

Please note that Akagera National Park gate closes at 18H00 and the Lodge is located within Akagera National Park.

DINING
Shoebill Restaurant:

Breakfast: served 05h30 – 10H00 everyday

Full Breakfast (Served every Saturday and Sunday and when occupancies are high)

Mini Breakfast (served when occupancies are low)

(Your choice of eggs to order, pastries, cereals and juices)

Dinner: A Buffet is served from 18H30 – 21H30

Dinner Menu (served when occupancies are low) Priced per item or full 5 course meal.

The Elephant Bar:

Open every day between 11H00 – 22H00

Light meals, and a children’s menu available from 11H00 – 17H00 everyday

Packed Lunches are available – these must be ordered by 21H00 the night before.

Enjoy local beers, liquors, soft drinks and a variety of fresh juices.

Swimming Pool:

Hours Oct – April: 07H30 – 21H30

May – Sept: 09H00 – 19H30

HOTEL POLICIES

Akagera Game Lodge is situated within the Akagera National Park therefore residents of the Lodge are subject to the rules of the Park during their stay at AGL.

 Baby Cots:

The Hotel offers a limited supply of baby cots.

Kindly check with reservations for the availability of these items prior to your arrival.

Non-Smoking Policy:

No form of smoking is permitted in any bedroom, hallway, restaurant or lounge. This includes electronic cigarettes.

Smoking is only permitted outdoors or on the balconies of rooms. Please use the ashtrays provided.

An additional cleaning charge is levied if there is evidence of smoking occurring in a bedroom.

Noise:

No noise is permitted in any of the corridors, gardens and the pool area from 21H30 to 07H00. This is strictly enforced.
